The European countries that are at odds with each other concerning economy and taxes have showered their citizens with liquidity and decent promises. As a result of the “subprime” crisis, the European Union and the United States have saved their banks in need and let themselves get dragged into the mire of debt. To distract the attention of their people from their own mistakes, their governments scapegoat others, among them the Swiss financial centre, by eliminating a competitor to their own advantage and at the same time trying to get off lightly and repatriate the savings that had escaped the excessive confiscatory tax rates.
